Level 2 - Lower intermediate surf course
In Level 2, you will step up your surfing game and catch unbroken green waves! In this course, you’ll learn to position yourself at the peak, time your pop-up, and master your stance. Level 2 will get you well on your way to becoming a skilled and independent surfer. Ready to take your surfing to the next level? Let’s dive in!
The course
For beginners who want to surf green waves

This level is designed for you who have completed our Level 1 course or can catch and ride whitewater waves independently. Level 2 will focus on getting to the lineup (outside) and riding left and right waves. The instructor will create an encouraging learning platform that focuses on having as much fun as possible while still progressing in surfing.
Note for beginners: We strongly advise starting in Level 1 and learning all the fundamentals before heading into deeper water and surfing green waves! If you have never tried surfing before (this goes for you snowboarders and skaters too ☺), please believe us when we say that going back to basics is the best way to learn how to surf!
What you will learn
Catch and ride waves from the lineup

Now it’s time to surf from what's known as the lineup. We'll teach you how to catch green waves and ride along the face of the wave. In the lineup, there are both written and unwritten rules to follow, and we'll cover those (and much more!) at this level. Along the way, you'll improve your surfing and have a fantastic time while doing it!
Level 2: It’s time to level up

It’s time to build confidence in deeper waters, choose the right waves, and develop your decision-making skills in the lineup!
Skill level: Preparations for level 2
Waves type: 2 ft green, mellow, and beginner-friendly waves (knee-high to waist-high).
Mental preparation: Understand surfing safety, board control, and surfing etiquette.
Physical preparation: Work on or improve your paddling and endurance, as well as flexibility, to manage smooth pop-ups and weight transfers on the board.
Technical knowledge: Understand how to lie down, paddle, pop up, and balance on a surfboard (AKA foundational level 1 skills). Know how to ride the white water or knee-high green waves both left and right independently.
Requirements
Previous surfing experience. To join Level 2, you should have around one week of surfing experience requested (~8 surfing days) with a coach prior to starting this level, AKA not just board rentals or free surfing. This ensures you have a solid foundation in paddling, popping up, safety, and surf etiquette.
Basic Level 1 skills.
Swimming ability.
Minimum hours to complete this level
A minimum of 30 hours is recommended to fully complete Level 2 (typically achieved over 3 weeks or more).
We’ll focus on…
In Level 2, we focus on the transition from riding white water to catching green waves (unbroken waves). You’ll learn to fine-tune your skills and gain a deeper understanding of wave dynamics. Our instructors will give you individual feedback in and out of the water and guide you through:
Master when and how to stand up on the board, focusing on your position at the peak of the wave.
Learn how to get out to the lineup and manage how to do turtle rolls to get through waves.
Polish your pop-up technique and fix mistakes.
Develop the core elements of a solid stance—vision, posture, arm use, rotation, hips, compression, footwork, and weight transfer.
Learn to turn left and right with the right angle, improving your balance and control while riding the wave longer.
Strengthen your paddling technique to confidently catch 2ft (knee to waist-high) green waves.
Choose the right direction to turn.
Practice how to accelerate and slow down and how to control the finishing part of the ride.
Understand the four stages of a breaking wave.
