Why do we have fixed arrival dates?

Ever wondered why we have fixed arrival days at Lapoint? It’s not just a schedule thing—it’s a vibe thing.
We love the idea of endless flexibility, but when it comes to surfing, structure is key. That’s why our surf programs follow a set weekly schedule. Here’s why it makes your trip better:
✔ A real surf community from day one: Arriving together means making friends fast. From sharing waves to sunset hangouts, you’ll be part of a crew from the get-go.
✔ Progression that actually sticks: Surfing isn’t something you just “pick up.” Each session builds on the last, making sure you improve at the right pace without missing key fundamentals.
✔ A smoother experience, every step of the way: From airport pickups to surf lessons and group meals, everything runs seamlessly when everyone starts together. Less stress, more surfing.
Packing list
Passport, swimwear and sunscreen

Make sure you bring everything you need! We have a small shop at the camp where you can buy things like zink and surf wax, and there are a few small local shops around. The nearest store is located in Chinandega, approximately a 30-minute drive from the camp. Here’s our packing checklist for your surf vacation to Nicaragua:
Passport
Swimwear
Beach towels: We provide bath towels, but please bring your own towels for the beach.
Sunscreen: The tropical sun in Nicaragua can be intense so make sure to pack an ocean-friendly (Oxybenzone-free), high SPF sunscreen!
Adapter: The standard plugs in Nicaragua are type A and type B.
Cash: Both local currency and USD are widely accepted.
Mosquito spray
Flip flops
Sunglasses
Waterproof camera

Tasty treats and wallet-friendly prices

All meals are included in the price, but if you want to try some local places in the area, Nicaragua offers delicious meals at budget-friendly prices!
Nicaraguan Córdoba (NIO) is the local currency, but United States Dollars (USD) are widely accepted in stores and restaurants. Having some local currency on hand is always a good idea, as some places may not accept credit cards.
Dinner at a restaurant: ~730 NIO / ~$20 USD
Local lunch in the area: ~365-550 NIO / ~$10-15 USD
Coffee: ~80-150 NIO / ~$2.20-4 USD
Beer (try the local favorite, Toña!): ~73-110 NIO / ~$2-3 USD
One USD is approximately 37 NIO (November 2024).

Sustainability
The beach is our home. We are leaving it better than we found it.
We have made a commitment to our ocean, beaches and community. They are our playground, our home and our livelihood. We are going to leave them better than we found them. That means that all our employees, friends and guests helps out with recycling and taking other actions for the environment. Each week there are beach cleaning and recycling activities to ensure that our home stays the way it was supposed to be.
