Santa Teresa is famous for great waves and playful conditions for all levels throughout the year. The mile-long beaches framed with swaying palm trees is the perfect place for feeding your stoke. At our surf school in Costa Rica, we have provided high-quality surf courses for over a decade, so we're experts in designing packages for different skill- and ambition levels.
Beginner- 0-4 hours surf experience needed
Surf - Level 1
Level 1 is for you who have never surfed before, or if you haven't surfed in a while and want another run-through of the basics. Our surf classes at Level 1 often take place by the beautiful beach of Playa Carmen or Playa Hermosa.
Here you find fun waves in clear, turquoise water and soft sand. Framed by lush jungle and swaying palm trees, the beach provides the perfect setting for your surf dream.
Ratio: Maximum 3 students per instructor
Intermediate - 10 hours surf experience needed
Surf - Level 2
Costa Rica is world-famous for its cool surf scene and great waves and is the perfect place for you to grow as a surfer. Each day we go to find the best waves for your level, often heading to spots such as Playa Hermosa or our home beach Playa Carmen, only a short walk from the camp. Playa Carmen, being so close to the camp, is very convenient for free surfing.
Ratio: Maximum 2 students per instructor
Independent - 60 hours surf experience needed
Surf - Level 3
Level 3 is designed to make you feel increasingly confident in the water. We'll surf beach breaks at spots like Playa Hermosa or Playa Carmen. With the local knowledge, passion and expertise of our instructors, you'll be safe and inspired while surfing some of the best spots in Costa Rica.
When living at the camp, only a short walk from the beach, you also have the opportunity to keep surfing and further fuel your fire outside of the surf lessons.

When is the best time to go on a surf trip?
Santa Teresa is a year-round surf destination, offering warm waters and incredible waves in every season. The dry season (November to March) brings sunny days, consistent surf, and a buzzing social scene. During the wet season (April to November), it mostly rains at night, leaving the days tropical, vibrant, and less crowded. Plus, our coaching and transport ensure you’ll find the perfect waves no matter the season!

The beach is our home. We are leaving it better than we found it.
We have made a commitment to our ocean, beaches and community. They are our playground, our home and our livelihood. We are going to leave them better than we found them. That means that all our employees, friends and guests helps out with recycling and taking other actions for the environment. Each week there are beach cleaning and recycling activities to ensure that our home stays the way it was supposed to be.
